The Press of Atlantic City has featured a article on a worthy project that the local Rotary and Interact Clubs have been supporting for many years.
Former student of Absegami High School and member of the Interact Club at the school will be blogging about her experience during their latest trip to the orphanage in Santo Domingo.
Lisa Sciamanna, district Interact committee member and one of the organizing members of the COPE course for high school students reported the following after a successful day in March 2010:
We had a GREAT TIME!
We had 14 to start...2 left early and were unable to participate in the high course..but I think they had fun the 2 hours they were there.
After our lunch was the highlight of the day!! Eveyone of the 12 had a ball on the zip line...40 feet up!! They all worked really hard and climbed the"Giants Ladder" where the rungs of the ladder are 5 feet apart....they balanced on the "high swings" and were exhausted by the end of the day....the weather was great! A bit cold in the morning but hoodies were great for the afternoon....
The staff at the camp were excellant...the COPE director just great and very patient with the kids...he could talk them into trying everything..even my Elle...who was adamant she wasn't doing the high swings...of course she was the only one not to finish after falling between swing 2 and 3 but she tried...thank God for the safety lines they all wear.....
Anyway, it was a fun time and I am happy to say a great success!!

Calling all Interactors to create their own Earth Day message
2010 is the 40th anniversary of Earth Day and it falls on April 22nd. To celebrate this important day and to create awareness about environment and sustainability in the community, we have created a unique and innovative project for all members of Interact Clubs to participate. Here is how you can participate:
1. Students are asked to use their imagination, design, and creative skills to come up with a green/sustainability (for example: going green, recycling, conserve water, energy & paper, eat local, etc.) message that can be printed on a 5 x 7 card. They can create this either electronically (using computer graphic tools) or on a physical card (paint, sketch, draw).
2. Submit your designs by April 25, 2010. You can submit your project electronically to uday.shah@yahoo.com or send to the following address: Uday Shah,
3. All designs will be put up on a website for students and public at large for vote to select the most popular designs.
4. The top three designs will receive a cash prize of $50 each.
5. We will select at least the top 10 designs based on the online vote and convert them into post cards for sale. Proceeds from the sale of the postcards will benefit Interact activities and other green initiatives in South Jersey.

Members of the Vineland High School Interact Club at the Rotary District 7640 Conference in Cape May held in April 2008. The Interact Club was recognized by the District Interact Committee for outstanding community projects.
On Friday, April 18, 2008 Interact will take the center stage at the Rotary District (7640) Conference in Cape May, New Jersey. This year’s annual conference will beheld at the Grand Hotel in Cape May.
The Opening Plenary Session, at the conference, will feature “Interact in Southern New Jersey.”
Five local Interact Clubs, and their Advisors, have agreed to participate in this session. They are Atlantic City High School, Egg Harbor Township High School, Oakcrest High School, Ocean City High School and Vineland High School.
Egg Harbor Township High School and Ocean City High School will each receive the Champions Award for their work on World Interact Week.
Atlantic City High School, Oakcrest High School, and Vineland High School will receive the Chairman’s Distinguished Service Award for their contributions to local community service, participation in district activities and exemplary Advisor contributions.
Interact Club from Egg Harbor Township High School had their 11th annual formal induction of officers and members on Nov 28, 2007. This club has 251 active members. Almost every member attended the dinner ceremony at Sharon Zheng's Restaurant, in Egg Harbor Township. The dinner is an annual affair sponsored by the Somers Point Rotary Club. Eleven years ago the process started with 25 members of the EHT Interact club.
October 30 - November 5
Celebrate WIW with your sponsoring Rotary Club by planning and performing a local service project together. The project must be started during WIW and completed no later than November 24, 2007. All Interact Clubs that wish to enter this district wide competition must start and complete their service projects within the time frame set forth. They must also have hands on assistance from their sponsoring Rotary Club. Application forms and complete rules will be mailed to each school Interact Advisor, and they are also available from the District Interact Website. All entries must be submitted following the rules. They will be judged by an independent panel of Rotarians and community leaders. Winners will be announced in February 2007. Ten $50 prizes will be awarded.
